Open up server to the public when 1.8 comes out?

I think we can open up the server o the public (that means we reveal the server URL) when 1.8 comes out. I hope with this we can rekindle interest to the currently-dying server. Of course, we should only let these people in as spectators only. I will work on a system for players to apply for creative gamemode once we decide whether to go with this plan.

Hmm.... opening it to the public would require some changes, like the revising of the rules room, having some OPs who visit it regularly, etc. But the question... will it still remain an 'Ganger server for Gangers, or just a regular server? Should we enforce a stricter selection criterion for allowing players to creative? ~T

I, now, agree with the idea. But we'll need someone else who should drop his 2 cents...  ~T

I agree, provided that this remains an Unterganger only (except with maybe a few exceptions, such as Huck's friend who wanted in) server and that we (obviously) only let players out of spectator mode if we believe they are joining in good faith.

Agreed on "Unterganger only" clause. Titular server need titular players. :P

As for player's friends, I'm not quite sure but it has to be made known that they would be ultimately taking orders from OPs and not the friends who brought them in. So far our only case of this happening, the offender in question does break the rules so the ban is justified regardless. Not to mention people outside or unfamiliar with the meme might be really offended with some of the builds, something we really didn't need to deal with.

In short, gangers and fans are ok, but their MC friends... not very so.

Alright, understood.

Now, the waiting game has unoficially begun. ~T

Hence the 'maybe' part, you're right on the fact that some may not understand us and take offence to the builds. This friend of Huck in question is actually an admin of our FB group so it would probably be safe to assume he is a fan and understands. With that said, I don't think it would hurt for us to let fans who are friends in, as you said, especially if several of us know the guy (I did speak to the guy a few times but it was a while ago).
