Proposal for parliament building Athyras

Hey goys.

I'd like to make a proposal where to build the parliament building. Personally I believe across from central station is a very nice spot.

Allow me to explain the picture below. My idea is that in the middle will be a big square with the buildings around it. at the orange spots you can enter the square. perhaps with a little arch. the red lines mark the complex and the big spot can be the house of representatives with the seats, and perhaps the side building can be the senate. the rest can be offices for the politicians to work.

If you goys like my idea then that spot across from ACS will be reserved and you cannot build there. I also have no idea yet about a building style so if we build the parliament there then help will be appreciated.

Seems like a gut idea :)

Can I suggest that the main entrance face the north-south axis avenue? Since that avenue links all parts of the govt district together it'd be nice to have every important govt buildings facing a central avenue.

I recommend that lobbies be built between the entrance and the respective assembly halls. Those lobbyists need their lobbies after all. ;)

I first wanted to suggest a neo-gothic look like the Palace of Westminster, but I suppose there isn't enough space for it. Maybe you can go with something like UN Glass Palace. You always wanted something akin to the UN on the server, right? :)

Lastly, the diagonal bridge might look a bit out of place, so I'm okay with dismantling it, or turning it into pedestrian-only bridge.

I actually thought it already was a pedestrian-only bridge

I think having the building face a central avenue could work too.

Not really sure about the UN suggestion. I'd rather have a square in the middle, surrounded by a somewhat old styled building.

Oh well, I guess katy and I are the only ones who differentiate pedestrian and vehicular paths in Athyras and the others are none the wiser.

If you want to go for the style of the old Westminster, then we're talking something akin to royal chambers (like a chapel) turned into a place to discuss legislature, in which case any old look will do. You can even do a town-hall style building, with the actual hall (to differentiate from the one in the historical district, that one's practically only an office for the mayor) where the members meet.

I guess I'll just digress. Too much of a hassle dealing with differences as I consider myself the only one who now have spatial and functional sense of buildings. I can give you examples here and now, but I digress from that as well.

What exactly do pedestrian and vehicular paths have to do with this thread? We were just discussing about the parliament building and you mention footpaths? How does this make any sense?

"I guess katy and I are the only ones who differentiate pedestrian and vehicular paths in Athyras"

What about all the stone slabs I've been adding alongside the roads? And by vehicular roads I assume you mean the roads for horses?

Also, not everything has to be extremely realistic, since it is still after all, just a game. ;)

Lets stay on topic, though.

that diagonal bridge connects directly to the asphalt of the road on the other side, if that's not a clear indication of my intended use of the bridge for ya. maybe some people doesn't possess the ability to infer that and relate to the issue i'm raising.

I'll still digress about the style of the building. I can still recall you wanted a modern-looking city though, hence my suggestion.

Okay, I apologize for any hostilities this has caused. I think gunnysacking is bad and wish to not do that by voicing my opinion. Anything that looks good would be okee-dokey. Having the correct structural layout is always a plus, but not something to be expected.

The confusion regarding to the bridge is that I personally use stone brick slabs for vehicular roads (like in the garage) and stone slabs for pedestrian paths. Figured there might be some kind of crossing at that road.

I understand the suggestion, and I do want a modern city, but that doesn't mean we should go full Brasilia on Athyras. :P

first link doesn't work. judging from the second pic alone... well, let's not go crazy with them curves. :P I personally like postmodern architecture. so let's not use the term "modern" from now on as it'll definitely be confused with the architectural style, and not refer to the general era.
